Whether you are an established business considering changing your advisors, a start-up looking for an approachable accountant, or an individual with more complex tax affairs, I can help.
I will suggest ways to minimise your tax bill and take a proactive approach to enable you to best plan for future tax liabilities. Perhaps more importantly though, I will help you make sense of the numbers and ensure you have systems and processes in place to support your business as it grows’
Whilst tax efficiency is not the only consideration when determining the structure of your new business, historically the rate of tax paid by a company have been much lower than those paid by a sole trader. Over the past few years, we have seen this gap narrow and there are various factors that can influence this. For example, whether you have any other sources of income, if you have a partner also working in the business, the level of earnings you wish to draw from the business, and other ‘associated’ companies you may already have. You can find out more by reading this article on my blog page.
If you are thinking of setting up a new business, please get in touch and I will be very happy to run through the options available in your specific case.
Clients often come to me to say they have a book-keeper that processes the transactions on the bank statement and they know how to generate a profit and loss statement, but they don’t understand the information being provided by the finance system. The ‘profit’ does not reflect the money held in the bank account, certain costs appear to be missing or there is no provision for tax which they know they will have to pay in the future.
I can work with you to identify the issues and put processes and systems in place (which your existing book keeper can follow) which will provide you with meaningful management accounts on a timely basis going forward.
I can also help with cash flow forecasting and have helped many businesses develop a robust excel based model.
I offer a full range of accountancy and tax services:
As a rule, it is more tax efficient to buy/ lease a car personally and claim a mileage allowance for business trips rather than put the car in the company name… unless you are thinking of going electric. You can find out more about this by reading this article on my blog page.
Yes! Helping you to complete your self-assessment tax return is only part of the job. I will at no extra cost provide you with a estimate of taxes due for the following year and suggest ways you may be able to lower your bill going forward. This may be by making use of certain tax reliefs such as marriage allowance or investment relief for EIS/SEIS share purchases, or by increasing your pension contributions or making charitable donations. There may also be further employment expenses which you could be entitled to tax relief on which you have not previously claimed.
You must report the sale of your home or other residential property to HMRC within 60 days of completion using its special online service. You don’t need to do this if there’s no capital gains tax (CGT) payable, for example, because private residence relief or other tax reliefs or deductions reduce the gain below your annual CGT exemption.
I can complete the necessary filing on your behalf and advise on any capital gains tax due. My fees for this service are £200 plus VAT.
Please get in touch and I will be very happy to provide you with a tailor made quote specific to your needs. My fees to complete a self-assessment tax return start from £250 plus VAT, and the production of statutory accounts and corporation tax return for a trading company start from £1,000 plus VAT.
